"Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3GS 3.1.3 with Sn0wbreeze
Sn0wbreeze 3.1.3 has been released which can jailbreak iPhone 2G, 3G and iPhone 3GS on the latest iPhone 3.1.3 firmware. One thing which is to be noted here is that it will work with iPhone 3GS only if it has the older bootrom (non-MC model). iPhone 3GS users who have upgraded to the stock 3.1.3 are still out of luck."

So heres my review on the Redsn0w jailbreak after staying up to three in the morn recovering my almost bricked phone. I managed to the dog at work all day and get the phone somewhat the way it was before.
Battery........same (maybe a tad better, but I wasnt seeing near those numbers you said you were getting) I wish it improved that much
cydia.........failed to install three apps multiple times. froze on me twice
screen.......flickers when scrolling through the contact list or anything similar.
booting.......way more of a pain in the ass than blackra1n, gotta find the damn ipsw every time, and its like a 6 click job and takes about 2 minutes longer to boot
This is after a fresh install of the factory 3.12 ipsw on a one month old 32 gig 3gs
I think im gonna wipe it and go back to blackra1n. |

After seeing the issues that Rob's encountered, I'm not gonna touch my OS until 4.0 (3.2 if there's some significant features). Holy crap. :(
Also, if anyone wants the theme that I posted earlier, just PM me and I'll see about posting it for download.

Only redsnow 0.9 can do FW 3.1.3, your suppose to apply OEM FW 3.1.2 as the patch. Remember you will lose your unlock.
Today; one hour iPod mode for the morning drive, I had between 0-1% batt drain. I've even took the screenshots, pretty shocking.
Drive home was diff, 8% batt drain for the same distance ...
Here's the screenshot of my i shot install on Redsnow

The minor mods come afterwards ...
EDIT:
Redsnow 0.9 w/ 3.1.2 FW Battery test
1hr of using the iPod and battery drain was 0-1%
Notice the time stamps
#1 Text my buddy for morning smoke
#2 I left the house @ 8:45am
#3 Arrive to work, parked the car & iPod Mode still running @ 9:44am
(no I didn't do any charging in between the times slots of #2 & #3)

so today my phone got ruined and I needed to restore it, but got that msg to update to 3.1.3 but I had downloaded and had a copy of the 3.1.2 ipsw that saved me. All you have to do really is simply hold the [SHIFT] key when you press the [Restore] button and it'll open a window to search for an ipsw file. Simple.
Now I'm on redsn0w 0.9 but still need to run blacksn0w for the unlock. |

3GS has a new level of security, you must save your SHSH or ECID to downgrade or restore to current IPSW that can be jailbroken. If you don't and Apple deploys a new FW, your done for ... |

What I've learned from the past, after your jailbreak ... Start loading Cydia; once it starts loading keep any eye on it. If Cydia runs smooth without any odd loading, start queing your installs and go forth with everything when your done.
If Cydia starts crashing on that first massive app install, you most likely got a sketchy IPSW or some unofficial JB software. Or maybe something went wrong when your JB software was patching and flashing your unit.
Restore as a new unit and start fresh with new files. If not, your gonna get some really messed bugs and freaky happen to your iPhone performance and behavior.
I've had many custom ipsw, some were made so ty and some were made with Cydia all modded to cut out some app devs.
EDIT: Forgot to mention; before you begin JBing, also restart your computer. This indeed help with a smooth patching and flashing of the FW. Next time I do the massive one shot install, I'm gonna reboot my iPhone and see if that helps or not. Who knows ...
All the screenshots I've posted are the real deal, wouldn't be lying to you guys at all with those results. |
