I tried that with my previous sim but it probably didn't work because my phone isn't unlocked. (Duh).
haha.
Yes, your current IP4 is locked to Rogers.
If you want to use "your" IP4 overseas, get the Gevey Sim to unlock it.

I hate to admit it, but AT&T will win out here. Typical old people (referring to it as "stolen minutes"? Really? Hahah) who just don't understand how a smartphone works.
I don't doubt that AT&T rounds up, but no side is really right here.

An explosion occurred at Foxconn's Chengdu plant earlier today, with reports claiming several workers have been injured. The Taiwanese company has yet to release a statement regarding figures and the cause of this tragedy, but according to 21st Century Business Herald, witnesses saw a lightning hit the A05 building before the explosion took place -- it is believed that this is a case of dust explosion, and security guards were allegedly telling evacuees that the smoke was toxic. At the time, hundreds of workers were present in the affected workshop which houses an iPad 2 assembly line. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families..

Foxconn and Apple Issue Statements on Factory Explosion
Foxconn and Apple have both issued statements on today's explosion at a Chinese factory where iPad 2s are assembled, according to Mobilized.
Apple
"We are deeply saddened by the tragedy at Foxconn’s plant in Chengdu, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families. We are working closely with Foxconn to understand what caused this terrible event."
Foxconn
"We can confirm that at approximately 7 pm on May 20, there was an explosion at our Chengdu campus. At this point, we can also confirm that there were two fatalities with injuries to 16 other employees. We are working with medical officials to provide treatment to the injured employees and we are working with government and law enforcement officials to contact the families of all employees affected by this tragedy.
The situation has been brought under control by the fire department and the cause of this explosion is being investigated by local police officials. Foxconn is cooperating fully with that investigation. Production has been suspended at the site of the explosion until the completion of the investigation. The safety of our employees is our highest priority and we will do whatever is required to determine and address the cause of this tragic accident."

Google is blocking Android Market movie rentals on rooted devices because of copy protection
Rooting your Motorola Xoom won't stop you from getting an LTE hardware upgrade, but it will throw up a roadblock if you're trying to watch movies rented from YouTube / Android Market. Android Central points out a Google support document that details the "Failed to fetch license for [movie title] (error 49)" message users will see when they try to play a movie on a rooted Android device. Only Xooms with Android 3.1 have access to the service right now, but once support rolls out to all Android 2.2 or higher devices in a couple of weeks some will have to choose between their superuser privileges and Google's nascent movie offerings (at least until someone figures out a workaround anyway). So far rooting and jailbreaking hasn't put a stop to other movie rental services for mobiles (iTunes, Netflix) so even if Google blames the movie studios for the policy, it seems like an odd restriction for the company behind the "open" platform to have.
(Android's "Open Source" is pretty much finished now)

Samsung Forced to Hand Over Unreleased Devices to Apple Legal
Judge Lucy Koh has ordered Samsung to hand over unreleased Samsung Galaxy S 2, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1, Infuse 4G and Droid Charge devices to Apple's legal team, according to CNET UK.
Apple is suing Samsung for copying the design of their iPhone and iPad. It will study the unreleased devices to build its case. Only Apple's legal team for this case will see the products. No one from Apple or Apple's in-house legal team is allowed is see the rival devices.
Normally, there'd be three months before Samsung had to hand over samples, but San Jose Judge Lucy Koh has decided that Samsung has already been shooting its mouth off about the unreleased phones and can't claim they're secret models, Courthouse News reports. Apple points out that Samsung even gave away a Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet to all 5,000 people at the recent Google I/O developer conference.
Once Apple has studied the devices and their packaging they will present their findings to the court who will determine whether Samsung products do indeed mimic Apple's.
iOS 5 Won’t Be Compatible With iPhone 3GS?
According to Eldar Murtazin of Russian blog Mobile-Review, iOS 5 that will be unveiled at next month’s WWDC 2011 won’t be compatible with iPhone 3GS, which means that it will be compatible with iPhone 4 and future iPhones.
Eldar Murtazin revealed this via the following tweet:
Just one comment. Apple iPhone 3Gs wont be upgradable to iOS 5.x. iPhone 4 will.
Murtazin hasn’t provided any details about the source of this information but apparently has a good track record when it comes to mobile phone rumors.
You may remember that iOS 4 that was launched in June last year was initially compatible with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, but some of the features were not available for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users. Earlier in the year, Apple decided to stop supporting iPhone 3G with the release of iOS 4.3.
It maybe too harsh to stop supporting iPhone 3GS with the release of iOS 5 as Apple continues to sell it along with iPhone 4. But we’ve seen Apple take such controversial decisions if it believes that it can’t offer a good user experience on older hardware, so we won’t be surprised if this rumor turns out to be true. It would also mean that iOS 5 won't be available for iPod Touch 3G users.
It also remains to seen if all the new iOS 5 features will be available to iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad 1 users.
(Not a good sign for the IP4 users, iOS5 might be very slow)
Believe the Hype: Former Apple engineers release Flash-killing HTML5 authoring tool
For all the talk of HTML5, web developers nowadays are still doomed to hard-coding pretty HTML5 websites. Deciding enough is enough, two engineers left Apple to found Tumult, a Y Combinator-funded startup. Their goal: Address a chronic shortage of decent HTML5 authoring tools. What, you didn’t think Adobe’s Creative Suite is the be all end all of web development?
The result of their undertaking is Hype, a brand new Mac application taking the pain out of creating eye-catching animations on the web that don’t require the Flash plug-in. Jonathan Deutsch, one of the co-founders and former engineering manager for the Mail.app backend, explains in an interview with Paul Hontz’s The Startup Foundry:
At one point after a trip to Europe, I wanted to make a photo website that would be as nice as a beautifully bound photo album, and use lots of effects. Coding this with HTML5 would have been a nightmare. There had to be a better way, and that’s how the idea for Hype was born.
The $30 download (limited introductory pricing) is already the top-grossing program on the Mac App Store. Deutsch also shared interesting anecdotes about the perks of working at Apple…
For starters, each hire gets new hardware from the company (free of charge or discounted? He didn’t tell). He also tells that “at Apple the question is often ‘how many times have you worked here?’” because the company hires a lot of clever people who at some point discover the entrepreneur within and leave for their own startups. As many startups fail before even taking off, some of the people turn to their former employer.
He also credited HTML5 adoption and Javascript optimizations to the work Apple has done with the open-sourced WebKit rendering engine. “It’s great to see HTML5 as a new platform, and Apple deserves a lot of credit”, he said. WebKit is today the platform of choice for the vast majority of mobile browser, unlike on desktops where the fragmentation between WebKit on one side and Microsoft’s and Mozilla’s proprietary rendering platforms on the other complicates web development.
