I got my iPhone 3GS upgraded to a 4 with the usual price for 16 (159) after some fighting with corporate.
I got my 3GS last October (actually perfect timing looking at the calendar). Apparently they wouldn't let me get the promo price because my monthly charges didn't exceed 55 dollars (I had 18 dollar voice corp plan and a 30 doller data) they said I had to upgrade the voice package in order to qualify for an HUP promo. yet when I called in earlier the corporate said my account qualified with no problems.

Be aware of Skype! The current version of the skype app (v2.1.1) runs in the background and it will kill your battery fast! Although I would really like to mostly use skype to make and receive calls, the current implementation of the app just makes this impossible. Apple really had a reason to do multitasking the way the did it and I always sign off of it or kill it in the app switcher if I won’t be using it.
I noticed.... but I do leave it on for out of town peeps to be able to reach me.

Double click the home button so it pops up your acive apps. Then press and hold till they have an ex, and start killing apps.

Your case is "iffy" tbh ...
1)Corp accounts are treated diff
2)Your 3GS HUP time line didn't reach the first policy's date of the 24 month period for the lowest HUP
3)Revenue was it's too low for 12 month period w/ a corp account.
Honestly, you can thank Bellus for your HUP pricing. Before they wouldn't budge with me on the 3GS.
A)Everyone can HUP
B)IP4 32GB - 24months = $269 & 12 months = $449
*Last year they wanted me to fork out $449 for 3GS 16GB*
Next time, just go to a ghetto dealer location and let them help you before you call in. GF's account is on some corp nonesense and that's what we did for the 3G in 2008, but the IP4 wasn't a problem.

Nevermind... I wonder when they'll support bluetooth devices, i.e. bluetooth headsets.

LOL - I never even knew about this.
I literally had every single app on my phone running in the background.

Only Skype runs in the background for some stupid reason ... Other apps are in a frozen state, and I repeat ... apps sitting in the multitasking docks are not running in the background.
Stop getting confused ppl

What about apps like DI radio, The Edge, and Tango???

Streaming radio apps and navigation apps are the only types of 3rd party apps allowed to run in the background.
Streaming radio w/ sound of course and Navigation w/ the gps arrow in the corner, for turn by turn instructions.
Communication apps are not running in the background though, whenever you exit you're done w/ the app. But, you're still logged in to their servers as "online" and whenever someone is trying to contact you, their push notification server kicks in to tell you. This was intro'ed in FW 3.0.

Apple Cracks Down on iPhone 4 Scalping in China
Like tickets to a major sporting event or the latest video game system release, a hot ticket in town always brings out the scalpers. In China, however, the scalpers are out in full force with one primary target in sight - prospective iPhone 4 buyers. As a result, Apple has been put on the spot to address this growing problem. And they have.
Released just days ago, the iPhone 4 has already seen - as anticipated - massive product shortages within the world's most populous nation and largest mobile community. In order to limit scalping and help consumers obtain their new Apple smartphone without being fleeced by scalpers, Apple is putting in place a new reservation program at the company's retail outlets in China (new Shanghai flagship store pictured above).
Here's how it works: As you might imagine, walk-in iPhone 4 sales are no longer permissible at Apple Stores in China. Instead, customers must now reserve their smartphone online prior to visiting the store to pick up the goods. The program also includes purchases of the iPhone 3GS, which has similarly been barred from walk-in sales. Still, even with attempts to cut back on iPhone scalping in that part of the world, it could take upwards of one month for Apple to meet the consistently overwhelming demand for the iPhone 4 within China.
(Why doesn't Apple apply this policy w/ every retail locations around the world?)

Limera1n iOS jailbreak released, Windows only for now
Geohot is back, and has just released the latest iOS jailbreak. The jailbreak is untethered which means you don’t need to plug it in everytime you want to turn it on. It works for iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G on iOS 4.0, 4.01 and everything after that.
The jailbreak is sort of still in beta and doesn’t include that one-click-jailbreak feature from past releases. Oh, and it’s only for Windows at this time – Mac and Linux coming soon. If you really want to jailbreak you may want to wait for Chronic’s Green Poison. The Chronic dev-team has let us know that the untethering feature is “unstable right now” so take caution. WHOA! Geohot just pulled the download link: We still haz it, get it here. – AGAIN: This jailbreak is apparently not stable so back up don’t bitch to us.
