Okay here is something that will change your life.
Call your Rogers or Fido provider if you have a WiFi BlackBerry and get them to sign you up for UMA (TalkSpot or Uno), but don't get the plan. Just tell them you want to UMA features without the plan (ie. they charge you like over EDGE, but its over WiFi).

oh, and drop that useless iPhone. |

DONT TOUCH THAT UPDATE! A NEW BASEBAND IS OUT
You will break YELLOWSNOW!!! (unlocking software)
Unless you ...
a) you're on a mac, you can jailbreak & keep the current baseband with pwnage tool
b) you don't care to unlock and plan on NOT travelling anytime soon
It has been warned by the DEV TEAM not to jailbreak unless your using Pwnage Tool on a Mac. Quickpwn on Windows will not save your baseband and it will indeed update it.
This update was useless, it was Apple trying to stop Yellowsnow & that's only thing they care about right now. Firmware 2.2, so far has been great! Even if they calimed 2.2.1 updates make Safari more stable ... not worth losing my unlocking opition. |

Sorry for being such a noob but what does baseband mean? I don't have a mac so does this mean I can't jailbreak. Also what do you mean about travelling? I'm going to the states soon how will this effect me? |

UMA connection shown

|
For those of you that dont know what UMA is, it's basically a service that will connect to the Mobile Network over your WiFi connection instead of the Rogers Cell tower. So basically you can talk in your basement and still have a crystal clear connection, oh and did I mention that whenever you're connected to a WiFi hotspot you're considered in your local area code when placing and recieving calls. Hello! Free long distance! F#@k new iPhone software. lol |

The ‘baseband’ is the generic name given to the internal components of the iPhone that handle the phone calls and Internet access. This ‘baseband’ is a tiny and unique independent computer system that runs inside your iPhone, it is separate to the main system that handles the applications (such as email and google maps) and it talks to the main part of the phone over an internal communications network. Think of it like a cable modem or other peripheral that is attached to your home PC that needs occasional updates. When a software update is released and presented to you within iTunes the baseband is sometimes updated (to fix bugs or add new features).
If you have firmware 2.2 on your iphone and itunes ... use quickpwn.
When you get to the states, load Yellowsnow from cydia and place the "new" AT&T sim card in and the iPhone is now unlocked. |

LOL Ppl are mircowaving their "bricked" iPhones from ing up the jailbreaks. *Dont know how ppl do that, it's so easy*
Microwaving will not show any tempering and your water damaged indicators will be white. The heat will fry the components of the motherboard, forcing it not to turn on and leaving no trace of a fail jailbreaking.

One of these losers updated and lost yellowsnow, now he wants to microwave it and get a replacement with 2.2 firmware. That's ing wrong! |

What's the best way to jailbreak the latest firmware update (2.2.1?)
I've not jailbroken yet and I'm curious what all the fuss is about, but seems right now with the current update it's pretty complicated (for a Mac user).
Thoughts, or should I just wait a bit until Quickpwn get their together? |
