Apple to Expand iPhone 5 Screen Size to 4-Inches?
Apple will reportedly change the screen size of its next generation iPhone to 4-inches in order to compete with Google Android devices, according to a DigiTimes report.
Component suppliers noted that the production lines for Apple's next generation iPhone have begun testing, and Apple is interesting in expanding the screen size to 4-inches to support the tablet PC market as the vendor only has a 9.7-inch iPad in the market.
Recent rumors have also predicted that Apple will release a smaller and cheaper iPhone nano that will use MobileMe cloud storage instead of flash memory.
(I really hope not, the Galaxy S's screens are too wide and big. The IP4's screen is perfect)

Fido unleashes $35 Unlimited plan (No Data)
Fido has bucked to the competition and has released their $35 Unlimited plan. This new Unlimited plan gives Unlimited local calling in any City Fido zone in Canada (Toronto, Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, London, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec), Unlimited local and International texts… This plan is effective today and is available to new and existing clients and all the standard features outside this plan still apply such as long distance and out-of-zone usage. Unfortunately – no data is included.
(Oh damn, unlimited international SMS.
That international SMS is super nice.
I would like to have the RBC Corp plan and the same one Steve Woz has, international unlimited data.)

PwnageTool 4.2 With iOS 4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak Released!
The iPhone Dev-Team has released PwnageTool 4.2 to create a custom IPSW that can perform an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1.
-
What's in a name? Well in the case of an HFS volume name on iOS, an untether exploit ¡ª as the Chronic Dev Team revealed last week with an untether for the 4.2.1 jailbreak, which had previously been a tethered JB for most recent devices since 4.2.1's release in November. With their permission, we've incorporated their 4.2.1 "feedface" untether into today's PwnageTool 4.2. This means iPhone unlockers can safely restore to a custom 4.2.1 pre-jailbroken IPSW and retain their current baseband and unlock.
PwnageTool also supports all the other 4.2.1 devices other than iPod touch 2G:
¡ñ iPhone3G
¡ñ iPhone3GS
¡ñ iPhone4
¡ñ iPhone4-Verizon
¡ñ iPod touch 3G
¡ñ iPod touch 4G
¡ñ iPad
¡ñ AppleTV 2G
PwnageTool also includes two very recent improvements to the 4.2.1 JB: iBooks was just fixed by @comex and @pushfix last night so that it works as intended on DRMed books, and the wifi problem on AppleTV 2G was fixed by @nitotv, @DHowett, and @saurik. Both of these fixes will also be available in upcoming Cydia package updates, so if you're already jailbroken you can wait for those updates rather than restore and jailbreak again.
The various components to the 4.2.1 untether (including a second exploit involving Mach-o headers) were worked out by 0naj, posixninja, and pod2g, and a nice writeup by 0naj is available on the wiki. The actual injection method uses geohot's limerain exploit for most devices. And even though 4.3 is just around the corner, the exploit used has already been closed in the latest 4.3 betas, so it made sense for the 4.2.1 untether to be released when it was. It also appears that a security researcher named @i0n1c has a 4.3 untether ready for when Apple releases the final 4.3 FW, so it may not be a long wait at all with 4.3!

You can download the new version from here(mirror). We will be updating our PwnageTool tutorial shortly!

Blackberry & Google rejected Nokia, before the Microsoft partnership.
According to an unconfirmed report from TechCrunch Europe, Nokia explored a possible partnership with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion before announcing its decision to adopt Windows Phone 7. It had been widely reported that Nokia was deciding between Google’s Android platform and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 OS when considering its future, but RIM’s BlackBerry platform was apparently also in the running to become Nokia’s potential savior. Citing “well-placed sources,” the blog claims that RIM wasn’t interested in a partnership and so the decision came down to two options. The report goes on to suggest that Google’s refusal to let Nokia make certain changes to the Android platform also played a big role in the Finnish giant’s final decision. Nokia, for example, wanted to replace Google Maps with Ovi Maps and change the way Android handles various PIM data, and Google said no. Nokia could have foregone Google’s blessing and done whatever it wanted with the open source platform, of course, but then it would just end up back where it started. In the end, Microsoft and its Windows Phone 7 operating system won — possibly by default — and the rest is history… or “future,” as it were.

Vodafone criticizes Apple’s new subscription policy, calls it a “walled garden”
Apple has been taking heat throughout the day since their announcement of their new in-app-subscription service for iOS application content. The route of the new controversy is that developers are expected to use Apple’s service, and take a 30% revenue cut to Apple, by June 30th or their app is presumably out of the store. This raises major concerns for applications like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. Now, the CEO of the high profile mobile carrier Vodafone has criticized the new policy.
Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao is “concerned” about the new policy and says that Apple is creating a “walled garden” around their App Store. Overall we sort of think Apple’s new policy is unfair to developers and there surely has to be a better way. Hopefully Apple will come up with something by the June 30th deadline, and hopefully no major applications get removed. Late last month Apple reportedly rejected the official Sony ebook reader application, raising concerns that similar applications, like Amazon’s Kindle app for iOS, could be removed or rejected as well.

You should just go for it. It's hard to find the original parts made @ Foxconn now, a lot of replicas out there.
