You guys noticed the Multitasking within the Facebook app itself?
Open whatever you like, head back to the main page and then hit the Facebook logo on top. |

Both Verizon Wireless iPhone and next generation iPad about to hit field testing?

One of our Apple sources has just informed us of something very interesting. Way down deep within iOS 4 is a pretty intriguing block of code. Our source says that the code queries the device, and if the device is either a CDMA iPhone or iPad 2, the device will auto-activate, thus bypassing the need for iTunes. We’re told this block of code has appeared every year consecutively before a major iPhone / device release, removed right before launch. This allows the products to be field tested by carriers (or partners) without having to activate the handsets or devices. Whether Apple has done this to make sure AT&T or other carriers looking at activation logs don’t find anything, or just for the sake of simplicity isn’t clear.
Lastly, we’ve been told from a separate source that the platform code of the CDMA iPhone is N92AP (Daring Fireball’s John Gruber has said it was N92), and the platform code for the next-gen iPod touch is N81AP. |

3G Unrestrictor updated for FaceTime

FaceTime while driving, this was only for test purposes and should never be used on a daily bases. The IP4 is mounted on a windshield mount, but there's no excuse for this ... when you get pulled over.

Starting today, 3G Unrestrictor allows you to make and receive FaceTime calls over 3G wherever you are!
3G Unrestrictor allows you to go around the iPhone's limitations and restrictions of not being able to use some applications like FaceTime, Skype or SlingPlayer while on a mobile internet connection like 3G or EDGE as well as many other things.
(Came out on 08.05.10???? WTF LOL See what happens when your Jailbreaking fourm goes offline for weeks?)
Here are the results
3G to Wifi = Perfect
3G to 3G = 1 sec delays with audio and 0.5 secs of Video
Data = Uses the same amount as streaming Youtube. (Confirmed by a little bird over @ Rogers Data Testing Centre) |

Does it really make that much of a difference? I have the 3GS and it seems to be going pretty fast... at least for me. |

For the speed up stripping of the 3G I've posted last month, can't compaire and indeed it will win with a landslide victory.
I have never tried it on the 3GS, why don't you give it a shot and let us know.
Worst thing can happen is ... you restoring your unit back to 3.1.3.
I've just restored my IP4 to 4.0.1, speed is my main priority right now. FaceTime over 3G (3G to 3G) was not smooth as I wish it could be. It's really not worth any type of slowdowns on the IP4's performance. Even though it's only a little; it's still too much after going through two generations of firmwares with the 3G. For me, jailbreaking is out of the question still. |

I put my 3GS and my buddys IP4 next to each other, and loaded a heavy webpage at the same time (cyberpresse.ca)... the IP4 smoked the 3GS, it wasn't even remotely close. |

Ohhhhh ...
I never tried loading web pages for speeds, just OS and apps. Maybe b/c i never used Safari on the 3G on data, always through Wifi. RSS feeds also helped me save time and data for my sites regarding news stuff.
Speaking of which, glad to see a lot of sites now have a iPhone ver or mobile ver to help out with load speeds and data hoggin' |
