I'm not sure if this was discussed already but anyone else having problems with their data working?
After I upgraded to 4.0.1 my data hasn't been working and I know it has to do with the carrier update.
If I do a fresh restore and carrier update then the data works no problem, however as soon as I restore from back-up the carrier changes back to 7.0 and data stops working.
I'm going crazy trying to figure it out. I don't wanna fresh start because I have TONS of text msgs that I don't want to loose!
Any ideas? |

But data works with 7.1, however as soon I restore from my back up to get all my stuff back it goes back to 7.0 and it won't update to 7.1, retarded lol |

| I don't mind doing a refresh start, as long as I can some how export/import my texts from the back-up |

After any restore right now, it's carrier 7.0 no matter what
Plug in your iPhone and go into Itunes ....
Go to help and hit check for updates, skip the updates you dont want or whatever and the carrier update will pop up.
Don't wait for the OTA ver, takes forever to pop up. |

I tried updating the carrier version that way but it won't do it :S
It says its updated but when I go to about on the phone it still stays at 7.0 |

Now that's odd, i assume its your previous restore conflicting with the new restore.
Kill it and do a fresh restore.
If you really need to save your SMS, SSH into it and get them out. |

Good idea, I can just SSH them back after fresh install

Yup that is correct, respect for doing your hwk :)
Whoever has a IP4, you have to be updated to Carrier update 7.1 to allow FaceTime to work. |

, just realized my phone is not jailbroken yet. I had to get a new 3GS cause my last one's mic died.

Kill it then, screenshot those SMS convos :)
Edit: why don't you jailbreak it now and ssh into it and pull those SMS out. |
