I see... and, I've started changing my eating habits already - I'm already eating whole wheat and whole rice :)

They certainly don't help and are likely a major cause of fat storage for you.
The problem with nutrition these days is everyone has ideas on what works and what doesn't. What causes fat storage and what burns fat most effectively.
For every nutritional theory there are 5 that contradict it - so a lot of it is experimentation to see what works best for you.
Cutting out things like white rice and white bread have, without question, enabled me to cut fat more quickly. That coupled with eating my carbs at the right time of day should produce some visible results in a few weeks if not less.
Try eating lower on the GI and even then eating those things earlier in the day and see if that doesn't lean you out fairly significantly.
Keep up the cardio, it's not the best activity for burning fat but it's sure as better than nothing. Now that you're running you may actually need to increase your carb intake just stick to slow burning carbs and it won't be a problem.
I think of high GI carbs and low GI carbs like a lump of coal and a wadded newspaper. Both will produce energy, one just produces a lot of energy very quickly while the other produces a lot of energy over a long period of time. It is the high GI carbs that give your body energy incredibly quickly which is what causes your pancreas to squirt insulin out in very high quantities which, in turn, causes your body to store fat.
The slow burning carbs do not produce an insulin surge (or at least not one large enough to cause your body to store fat) and almost always have more nutritional value than the high GI carbs anyway. (consequently they don't taste as good most of the time)
Gatorade is a 100 on the GI by the way, it's great if you're going to be playing a sport or running and you'll actually burn all the energy you're taking in, but just drinking it while you're at your computer, "'cause it tastes good" is an excellent way to store fat. |
That was pretty interesting: thanks, Masonius, I will post the results as soon as I notice them :) |
