Planks are also incredibly good for core stability and easing pressure on your back.

Planks? I know what planks are literally, but is this an exercise?

Wikipedia'd it :)

Edit: Yay, an exercise I can do while I read :p

I lost some 25 kg's with just very fast walking :) long 1-2 hour walks with a constant heart rate of ~115/min burns fat effectively (better than running), at least for me. And doing regular sit-ups you just tend to work on your upper abs which will eventually ofc make your upper abs bigger, thus making your lower stomach seem bigger (fatter) and more round (if there is a healthy amount of fat and maybe weak lower abs). I find working my lower abs pretty ing frustrating. And the lower back muscles are also essential for a good looking torso, making your posture better.

AND ofc training your upper back and chest will make your torso look more narrow, if you should ever gain muscle in those areas.

And yeah, having a little belly is much more manly than having a six pack.

Yeah, my chest is now "bigger" and my stomach does look smaller, but it isn't enough yet.

Good tip on the fast walking :)

Yeah, it's a very good workout! A lot of people say it sucks cause they don't do it right. They just stand there throw their arms around lol. It's tough when you move correctly! Pivoting the feet, twisting at the waist and what not. I time travel when I do it, time fly's when you're having fun!:p

Just started to incorporate the upper abdominal machine in my routine, pretty tough in the beginning.

I'm getting a little bored w/ my workout routine. anyone know of any good dummbell routines focused on full body workout? i.e. something you do 3x a week, full body (not arms one day, legs another day, etc...)

There's a workout in P90X Plus that's full body. You could probably do that 3x a week. Your going to get your ass beat the first few times especially doing it 3x a week. It's a real burner, I can send it to you if you'd like.

yeah, i'm not interested in doing a full p90x thing. kind of a good routine that i can do 3x a week or so. not looking for a new thing each day.

Well you don't have to, it's just one workout from the set, 50min full body workout. I can send it to you just to check it out and see if you would like it.

Feeling really good lately now I've started jogging on alternate days. It really helps with the weights too.

My gym has the worst hours! It closes at 8 on Fridays! That means I don't get to work out today because of that :(
