27% of the cholesterol is apparently LDL, so you're still going to say that its healthy to consume 3 large eggs 191 mg of ldl cholesterol (237 *3*27%)?
not to mention your drinking milk dairy and other things as well. It adds up.
i have actually had my cholesterol checked and had levels of up to 5.7 mmol / L.
I used to drink tons of eggs raw eat shrimps all day with a balanced diet while working out.
After cutting out the eggs and shrimp i managed to reduce my cholesterol to a tolerable level to around 5.
This is with me working out rigorously 5 times a week on a 4000 calorie diet at around 5.8% bodyfat |

| oh and those levels and recommendations (obvious ones at that) were given to me by a Gastrointestinologist and GP. |

| How your body reacts to and stores cholesterol is genetic. My bf's sister has high cholesterol and she rarely eats fatty or cholesterol rich food. |

i understand that and was going to raise this as my next point.
I am simply saying that throwing 10 eggs into a blender drinking it each day, no matter who you are, is going to increase your cholesterol over time.
Some people (definitely myself) are predisposed to having high cholesterol and should monitor intake more carefully. |

This is kinda all I was trying to say. Fledz, I'm sure it's healthy to eat egg yolks if you're in good shape and don't have cholesterol problems. But if I'm trying to lose weight and lower my cholesterol (my weight and cholesterol are fine), an egg yolk won't even be in the list of things I'm allowing myself to eat, as I could get my vitamins from other sources. |

We're not talking about the average Australian here. This is a workout thread, we're talking about people who want a lot of protein and so are going to be eating a lot of eggs. I can eat up to twelve eggs a week, and if I'm eating the yolk every time any negative effects will probably add up.
I'm just playing devil's advocate here, because I tend to eat the yolk anyway. |

How about this, try eating 48 eggs whole a week. That's right 7 eggs each day just like a protein shake whole. Try it for about 3 months then get a physical.
Now after your doctor has told you to refrain and all your levels are back to normal, do the same thing again with just egg whites. Do a physical and report back to us the results.
Guaranteed you'll be much better off with the whites if you excercise frequently. |

So thinking that yolks were less healthy than whites make me uneducated? Please. DancingMonkey just said that over 4 egg yolks a day would cause some problems. How about 4 egg whites, Fledz? Which is healthier? |
It depends. I said 1-4. Meaning that if you're trying to watch your weight, health problems, or something of that sort then sticking to 2 max would be good. If you're trying to gain weight(or aren't watching it), and aren't having a lot of health issues...3 or 4 would be okay I suppose.
Personally, the only eggs I eat are in my crepe batter. I don't go over 2 whole eggs when I mix it, and usually add 2-4 egg whites to bring up the protein content. |

thermogenics simply raise resting heart rate so you burn more calories. not a substantial amount but enough to make a difference over time. think 50-100 calories/day.
they make a great addition if you're doing everything else correctly but they are no miracle product. for example, to start my summer 'cut' i'll be adding on more cardio, taking in ~200 less calories than my 'maintenance', and using a thermogenic. this will allow for a slow and steady cut while maintaining energy levels. |
Thanks :) |

Let's not get ridiculous here guys. I'm sure if you ate 10kg of Broccoli per day that too wouldn't be all that great for you either.
What I was talking about was the nutritional value of eggs in moderate amounts. If you're a high performing athlete then you would have a specialised diet, but as far as I can recall none of us are, or at least aren't any more.
The point is that whole eggs are perfectly healthy and shouldn't negatively affect even the most cholesterol prone person. If your cholesterol is at such a massive level though where eating an egg yolk can be detrimental to your health then trust me, you've got far worse things to worry about.
As for needing protein, 7 eggs per day? Why? Why would you not get a quality protein supplement instead? WPI if you really drastically want to cut everything but protein.
Also ziptnf - If you're trying to lose weight, then carbohydrates and sugar are what you should be targeting, not fats. It's quite simple, if you burn off more kilojoules than you take in, you lose weight. More muscle mass also increases your resting metabolism. In practice it's quite straight forward. Focusing on fats and the amount of cholesterol will get you nowhere fast. |
