i stretch before and after my work outs in all forms too. When I swim I don't stretch much but definitely before I run, bike, and lift.
trunks - blah blah blah do a tri with me and we'll see who is sucking air |

Well start doing it AFTER. Like the other guy said never stretch a cold muscle. If you want to do it before then at least jog for 5 minutes before you stretch. |

Oh I know...I wouldn't expect to go around to all the weights and together...and when I go with my buddy we always do our own thing. I just like having someone there to sorta check in with or whatever. But mostly I want a running partner. :p |
a running partner! Everyone runs at a different pace. |

Yeah. I remember my friend asking if we could go running together. I don't see the appeal. It's not as if you can have a decent conversation while you're trying not to swallow your own tongue, and everyone has a different pace and level of fitness. |

To each his own I guess but consider myself to be very athletic and train properly. I do stretch before during and after I lift, run, and bike. I guess for my body and my work out I normally slam the cardio after I lift and steam after I swim so I do enough to loosen up my muscles. Besides, i've done yoga and bikram to know what my body needs. |

| That is cool, but current medicine tells us not to stretch before a workout. At least warm up a little before you stretch or you risk added injury. |

when i dont stretch i cramp especially before I run. I don't buy into the "alittle" warm up thing though, I mean if I'm going for a run my stretching routine gets my heart rate up enough to warm my body some to start at a good running pace, above a jog somewhere around 130-140HR, I check again around 1.5miles which should be idle to flat in the 150-160s and my breathing is perfectly fine.
Maybe I'm old school so whatever current medicine tells you I believe in some of the opposites. Stretching before hand for me is very important, it's actually more so then stretching after. I spend most of my time stretching before and probably half the time stretching after. |

your wasting your time trying to get "Nyce" to learn how to do it properly. When he/she pulls a muscle and is out of commision for a while, we can say we told u so ;) |

sorry i left my sarcasm detector in the trash, sounds as if you are my PT when you know absolutely nothing about me my friend. Maybe this is where I should say we agree to disagree but the fact of the matter is there is no said true law to how a person works out simply because we are all different with different bodies under different athletic circumstances. Understand that first before you try to speak publicly about a topic as if you know what I should or shouldn't be doing. So please, hold your preaching since you clearly aren't the only one in this thread who thinks they know things. |
