I only do them once or twice a month though, when I can't use my weights for whatever reason. When I was doing multiple sets every day I used to be better, but so many reps at such low resistance just didn't give me enough soreness the day after. |
Natural strength or have you trained it over time? I've got pretty good strength there and could do about the same, I've also always had naturally strong abs too but ask me to do some chin ups and I'll fall apart before I even do 5 :stongue:
Stupid uneven body :( |

| Trained over time. My abs used to be great - I could do hundreds and hundreds of sit-ups in one go - but I found them really boring to train and now neglect them a bit. I'm not too bad at pull ups/chin ups. I can do 20 pull-ups now. |

I find static ab exercises are the best. Plank and then advanced plank like alternate limbs, extended hands, on top of exercise balls and so on.
I need to work on my chin ups... |

Summer is over and I'm happy with my overall shape, save for some extra softness in the middle ( oh beer and nachos :( )
Shape is fine, just need to tone tone tone.
I've got a great cardio routine, but am totally clueless in the weights/crazy machines area.
I've got an assessment and meeting with a personal trainer in 2 weeks.
Any tips til then? |

for girls, i won't stress this enough. to tone, you need to build/strengthen muscle. a lot of girls think toning = more reps less weight. that becomes aerobic exercise, which can be counter productive if you're already doing some cardio
also, be careful with how much cardio you're doing. doing tons of cardio will throw your bodies hormones off and you'll start storing fat instead of losing it. i would keep it to 3-4 times a week if you absolutely must have it.
assuming your goal is to lose some weight and tone your body, i would just take in a little under your maintenance in calories, lift heavy and push yourself, and do cardio in moderation. |
