| Yeah most def. I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I have a friend who is an instructor at place downtown. Might join up after I write my RN exam. Need most of the free time I have this month for studying. |

I know what you mean, sometimes your focus is just elsewhere. I only worked out on Monday because I'm flying out of town tomorrow morning for my big interview. I knew I would miss all weekend so I just decided to take this week off. Next week, though, I'm starting a brutal cross-training regime with P90X/P90X+/Insanity. It's going to suck and rule at the same time. Check it out:

I was about 100kg a few months back and planned to lose maybe 5kg to get to perfect shape. After the Easter long weekend and all the food and chocolate, I figured I had put on up to 5kg taking me to around 105kg. A week of normal eating and a bit of exercise and I rightly assumed I was close to 100kg again.
I weighed myself a few days ago and I was 96kg. What in the ? Did I lose muscle density or something? |

Not really. At my peak I was running 6 miles, three or four times a week. That's not really "well conditioned" and my form was destroyed by a succession of niggling injuries. By the time I stopped completely in October I was only running about once a week.
In 2011 I've only ran four times, and today was the fourth. The first was a one-off in January, the last three have all been in the past fortnight. I may also have jogged home from a club while drunk once or twice, but I can't really remember. I also played football once about a month ago.
Despite this lack of exercise, I'm still running just as far and just as fast as I was doing 8-10 months ago. |
You seem like the kind of personality which doesn't believe in gimmicks, preferring to just get on with it. I'm the same, but I can tell you that replacing shoes is extremely important. So many people ignore this. I don't know the exact mileage any more, but you should replace your shoes after a certain number.
Poor shoes are nearly always the cause of niggling injuries, they up your bio-mechanics and throw everything else out of alignment. Then again, you might just need orthotics. |

| I have replaced them. My old pair were literally falling apart, which no doubt contributed. |

Yeah, I was going to say 800 but couldn't be bothered googling it. :p |

| How far? I've been seriously slacking in the last couple of weeks. Been spending all my time going out partying and then recovering. Hoping to knock out 10 miles or so this weekend. |

I've had so much uni work and work work that I haven't been for a run in about a month. Still playing basketball on Wednesdays but it's not the same.
I'm short on time but I hate using that excuse. I really need to get back into it, say at least twice a week. |

Not far - only about 3 or 4 km. |

Does anyone use any sort of whey protein or recovery formula after heavy lifting or cardio? I find it helps alleviate my soreness and helps me build back muscle.
I use this stuff, it actually tastes pretty good:
