the overhead press (which the military press is a variation of) worked best for my shoulders (also my weakest link)
check it: http://stronglifts.com/how-to-overh...rect-technique/
it's a little tricky to nail down at first (lots of little details in the movement versus the military press) but once you nail it down you'll feel your deltoids and traps bursting. |

Thank god we're talking about working out again. Getting me in the mood to blast tonight. :p
I like doing military press and overhead press too. I basically have a few movements per muscle group that I stick with and just rotate between them each workout. My bf has a few Men's Health special issue books that are filled with workout routines and different exercises...I've been meaning to go through them and pick out some different stuff, but haven't found the time. Getting bored though. |

God ing damn it... I still have a bad back. It started feeling sore before Christmas while I was doing some temporary work at a mail depot. I just assumed it was standard soreness from the work, especially after I got flu and had general muscle aches and weakness. However, while the rest of it has gone the base of my spine is still painful. I just tried going back on the weights and I could barely lift a 50kg barbell off the floor. There was no way I was doing anything with it, so I had to drop it because I couldn't lower it smoothly to the floor.
Given it's been exactly two weeks since I worked and I'm still feeling it, I'm starting to get worried. Will have to make an appointment with a GP next week. At least I can still do pull-ups... |
I'm going to assume you haven't changed your bed, got any new weird shoes or haven't been in some sort of accident recently, correct?
Is it more muscular in the lower back (like either side of the spine) or does it feel like a disc issue?
If it's muscular, then it could easily be related to the surrounding muscles, mainly the legs. Even a tight Achilles can cause a sore back as it pulls all the muscles towards it until the resistance hits the back which then takes the brunt of the problem.
Do your feet roll in/out a lot? That was the issue for me. I had debilitating muscular spasms where I couldn't move for days (just like a slipped disc) and sore knees all the time until I visited a podiatrist and got custom orthotics made up. That was about 7-8 years ago and I haven't had a back problem since, nor have my knees hurt.
Definitely get it checked out just to make sure it's not spinal so that once you've identified it's muscular, you can pinpoint what's causing it. Also didn't you start focusing more on your squats recently? Is there something new that you've been doing?
EDIT - I shouldn't read stuff when I've just got up. Read it again and saw you mentioned it is actually the base of your spine. Yea, go get it looked at. Not something you want to just leave. |

I want to lose 8-10 pounds. I know I could do it easily in a month; however, I'm coming up to the probably the busiest, most intense period of my life so far, and I don't know that I'll be able to manage a strict diet and work out as much as I need to in order to achieve that goal. Especially since I'm doing NO cardio. :/
But, I'm still going to work towards it. I know I can do it in 3 months on a slack plan no prob, lol. |

Well in the spirit of posting pics, this is what I'm working with after a solid few months of working out 2-3 times a week and not really being strict with my diet. I realize it doesn't look like I need to lose 8-10 pounds, but I want to. There used to be more definition in my arms and I'm carrying more weight than I'd like to in my butt and thighs. There's generally just more jiggling going on than I'd like, heh. If I don't start working towards it now, I'm gonna be spending the whole summer trying to do it, and I don't ing want to. |

| You're at the same point I am. That last 5kg is the toughest to drop. Mainly because I really can't be ed going on a male model type of diet. I like food too much. |

| Right? I know it's the food. I've done it before so I know how "easy" it can be...but I just can't find that kind of discipline again, lol. When I did it before I felt like all I was ever doing was prepping and cleaning up after meals. Such a pain in the ass. |
