So my gym has had a 2 million pound refit and opened its doors last weekend but they seem to have got rid of the free wieghts section!! Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal for modern gyms?
The equipment is top notch but the heaviest dumbbells they have is 20kg and only a couple of benches squeezed in a corner :( The rest of it is massive, even got a section for the oldies with air compressed "easylines". Gay!
Anyone got any tips for working out and building muscle using conventional machines or lighter weights? They do have 2 good smiths bench press machines and cable cross over machines but I'm not so used to the exercises. |
That sucks, man.
I would find a new gym. I can't stand machines for most exercises. |

Thats what I'm doing. Just as much high intensity cardio as possible. At 210 now... used to be 250. I'm actually in better shape then when I played ball in school, but all we ever did was powerlifting, so my shoulders and chest are way too big... cover that with a layer of fat = ugly |
Prolly not the right place but are you still going to OCS ? |

Running is freaking horrible for u...aside from the healthy aspect of weight loss and conditioning, the constant jolting of your organs and wear and tear of your joints outweigh any benefits. |
Not with proper shoes, technique and rest. Running really is one of the only sports that you can keep doing until you're 80.
If you take care of and listen to your body, of course. |

+1 on that one.
Running/Jogging does still put pressure on particular leg tendons and muscles regardless of the surface, but you can minimize this by ensuring that you have a textbook running technique, and you're wearing the right equipment for maximum support. I've been running at least 15-18 miles a week on average for the past 5-6 years on a variety of surfaces and only once had an injury (stress fracture). This was due to poor choice of footwear on my part.
If you are going to run/jog, I'd recommend outdoor grass if possible, and lulz @ jolting/jiggly organs. :haha: |
