Throwing up is normal especially if you don't give yourself an hour after eating. I don't always throw up, but I almost always feel like I want to throw up. Still haven't been injured from it.
I barf sometimes if I don't cool down properly, but I do have a tendency to push myself too hard since I'm a slow runner. |

I haven't thrown up in about a year, but I just feel it is a normal thing that happens to people who run a lot. Like I said especially if you don't cool down properly or you eat beforehand. I probably would throw up more than that, but I know well enough not to eat until after I finish.
In my opinion doing a hardcore leg workout like tons of squats with heavy weight makes me want to throw up more than running, but they will both do it to you. |

Yeah, squats + deadlifts 5x5 will do the job |

plus i don't like things in my pockets when i run and i hate carrying things - so running around the track w/ my Sansa would have been annoying. |
Dude get an armband or I will murder you. |

if you're doing HIIT to the point of throwing up, then you've done it completely wrong. the idea is to build up your tolerance to the intensity so that you can consistently get a great cardio work out. not push yourself past your physical limits which is more likely to damage your body and leave you taking days/weeks off which is the opposite of what you're supposed to do :X |
you are my new buddy exactly, that can't be good for the body.
i think of doing h.i.i.t. as being somewhat similar to playing hockey. you have "shifts" where you go all out then you rest then another "shift" then you rest then another "shift." you should go all out during your "shifts" but not to the point that you can't get through the entire "game." at the end you should sit on the bike or something to cool down but you don't vomit. |

That might be true, but only for people that are training for shorter to mid distances (say, < 5k).
I run 4 times a week (200-250k a month) but I've never even come close.
I don't believe that pushing yourself that far does any good for you when you're a long distance runner. |

| The simple physiological truth is that your body is saying you've done something wrong to it when you vomit. It isn't a reward for a job well done, lol. It's called "being sick" for a reason. |

| Look at u guys, afraid of a little vomit, lol. No you should not throw up everytime u do HIIT nubs, but u should be spending a little time in the "pain zone" if your going to progress...and that means pushing yourself to almost barf on the cardio bunnies in front of you, while they read the latest issue of Marie Claire :D |

yes, you should be pushing yourself. but for most of us, there are many other warnings before nausea sets in. also, between your sprints in HIIT you should be cooling down enough to slow your heartrate to slightly above normal - if you're not, then you're not doing HIIT - you're skipping the interval part. this alone should eliminate nausea |

go have a protein shake and come back when you are ready to actually contribute instead of believing yourself to be some sort of gym elitest. |
