My legs are kiiiillllliiiiing me today. I was squatting four times my weight yesterday (420lbs). I did about six sets of 8 at that weight plus some warm-up and cool-down sets at a lower weight.
Then I ran on ze treadmill (2 miles in 14:30m)
gutted. |

I've seen your pics. You can't squat anywhere near 420. |

lol, I was on the weight machine. It wasn't a manual squat I guess. It was one of those assisted ones where you have to stand on a platform and then move down to a sitting position, but yeah, there was 380 on there plus the machine weight which was 40. |

I bet you couldn't do much more than your bodyweight with a barbell loaded with weights. Where you have it across your traps/delts and sit down then stand up. I can barely do 270 and I've been training for months now. |

Yeah, those I suck at. I could do about 150 with the barbell. killed. I don't do those since they hurt my neck. The assisted squat machine I can rape though. |

The key is you need to put it on your traps/deltoids. Make sure you flex your back/shoulder muscles to create a nice base for the barbell. Seriously you need to do them.
If I could only do 5 exercises they would be squat, deadlift, bent over row, bench press, and pullups or cleans. |

I've heard that it compresses the spine and and helps increase muscle mass if you do proper squats but they're just no funnnn. I usually go to the gym by myself, I'd probably be far more apt to do it if I had someone who I went with regularly who made sure I was holding formation.
As for today, chest/back day. T'was decent. Three sets on bench at 150 with 5 reps. I can't get my chest to the point where I think it's good. |

| yes you need to have a spotter or have enough experience that you can hold your form or you can easily injure yourself |
