I go to the gym alone, so I dont have a spot to watch me. Ive had times when my shoulder or wrist would give out on me, so Id rather just stick to the machine.
As far as pushing away food, I actually have no problem with that... my biggest problem is that I try to find comfort food right now because I spend so much time studying. Any suggestions on healthy snakes? Im not a fan of cardboard so rice cakes are out. |
but seriously - go buy some onions, green peppers, skinless chicken breasts, cut them all up. Marinate the chicken in some fajita mix for 20+ minutes. cook them all up and chow down. High protein, decent (but healthy) carbs and verrrrry little fat.
Protein shakes, oatmeal, apples, veggies - they're all good snacks. Just eat frequently and make sure the portions are small. |

Ok, back to what I was intending to say... Any suggestions on healthy snacks? |
almonds for one...whole wheat stuff, veggies, rice cakes (lightly salted) and i've grown partial to soy crisps. |

All legumes tend to be fatty. |

i know you were agreeing and i agree with her too but i was just saying machines are pretty good sometimes |
oh okay good - wasn't sure if you were disagreeing with me or not. the lack of inflection inherent in forum postings can lead to rather nebulous statements which leads to incorrect interpretations. I prostrate myself before you and beg forgiveness.
And machines *do* kick ass. For inner chest and hamstrings they're almost critical. My biceps would probably be 2 - 3 inches smaller in circumference if it weren't for machines. They kick arse.
You just have to balance between the two. Free weights are so important for building the supplementary and often neglected muscles. They put more stress on your entire body in one movement whereas machines put more stress on one muscle group in one movement. |

yeah but to my understanding they have the "good" fat. you can't eliminate fat from your diet and you do need it. i eat a decent amount of almonds unsalted peanuts and stuff for snacks. |

true, if you don't take in fat you'll store much more of it. you have to consume healthy fats like she said. It will also give you added energy in the gym, which leads to more lean muscle, which leads to less fat on your body. |

In this instance would you suggest I add a dumbell press into the workout? flat or inclined (by how much?) |
