OK finally got back in my groove, I'm actually feeling sore after my workouts. I was in a slump, but I started paying more attention to nutrition and put some supersets into my workout and bam.
Just one question, anyone ever do power cleans? I've been doing them and they really work the middle and lower part of my back as well as my legs a bit. Are they worth it, however, if I'm going for that V-shape? (lats sticking out). Would I be better off with bent over rows and deadlifts? |

You know, there's a woman in my gym that scares the hell out of me. She's got to be an ant!
She's almost half my height and she can probably pull twice my weight! She was doing pull-ups the other day, hanging on two benches with a couple of hyper-heavy weights on her stomach.
I'm afraid she eats puppies for breakfast. |
The weirdest thing about it is the fact that she looks 40, yet I don't think she's much older than me :conf: |

I do them. I don't think they work your lats very much if you do them properly. They are a great exercise, though, and fun.
I think lat pulldowns and other upper body pulling exercises will be your best bet for v-shape. Obviously having low body fat helps as love handles will conflict with the v-shape.

| i usually do my pull ups with 1 45 lb plate hanging from my waist. at 1 point i was doing 2 45 lb plates but i injured my trapezeus (sp). anyways i weigh like nothing so its not much of an accomplishment lol. A wider grib is much easier (just as in bench press) less distance to travel for flexion and more lats are used as opposed to rhomboids. rhomboids are a smaller muscle group. |

| When? When will I be able to do 2 regular pushups?? Omggggggg, it's so embarrassing, lol. I'm pretty sure the dumb cunts on the treadmills were laughing at me when I dropped to the floor after getting only halfway through my second one. Whores. |

| Do some tricep and other chest exercises as well. Those will help with the strength you need for pushups. |

| I'm going for 100 consecutive push-ups after reading that thread the other day. I've put aside all my cardio and weights and replaced them with push-ups every day until I can do 100 in one set. I'm at about 60 right now so it could take up to a month. |

I do! Did you not see my routine a couple pages back? I'm just impatient, lol. I'm thinking by the end of next week I'll be able to do two.
Already my shoulders/arms are looking pretty ripped...well, not ripped, but nice and toned. I've always liked my shoulders. Jerking off all those dicks over the years sure has paid off! :wtf: |

overhand. if they were underhand, it would be called a "chin up" not a "pull up" :P |

last year i did this thing where our squadron did one million pushups. 100 people did 100 pushups a day for 100 days. you can scatter it throughout your day; but theoretically it was supposed to be done during your normal workout schedule/routine/PT. |

Gym was awesome tonight. There was no one there but me. I'm seriously thinking of taking a book with me to the gym next Friday night :)

Do you believe you can?! Do you be-leave?!
I'm going to tell you a story, Jenny. I always wanted to fly. My father is a pilot, and he used to tell me as a child how nice it is to reach the clouds. His stories marvelled me.
Then, one day, I said - "I'ma fly!". I went to the roof of my house, and took a leap. I flew, flew, flew, and, because of Isaac Newton's nutty ideas, I fell. But, I flew because I believed I could fly. Downwards, but I flew!
Next time you're doing push ups, concentrate real hard, and do it! Remember that, yes, you can! |
