Your cat trainer pales in comparison to mine...

Was your current fitness level due to your prior (and current) training with the armed forces? You must have had a hell of a daily routine, amirite? |

meh, nothing too strenuous, i'm just in the AF :)
on our old flights, we used to work out everyday we worked (monday-friday)...it was shift work, so each week it was something different. but usually involved running 2x a week, and strength training 2x a week.
now that i'm in a different position, i just kind of sit around and rarely make it to the gym . or at least, not as often. and i've become severely lazy as far as food goes and have not been cooking my own foods for awhile. sucks. |

That's quality right there. If you could, would you resume this schedule? Or would you be content with hitting up the gym on your own self-tailored schedule?

Well that's no good. I can sort of sympathize, still being in college. Good food is hard to come by... and the time it takes to cook just isn't there (or when it is, too lazy). |

honestly, when someone else was there (or rather, our entire flight) it was more 1) fun; and 2) motivating. when i go by myself, all i do is feel kinda lame...and get bored.

yeah, college was kinda bad....but my metabolism was pretty sweet back then too. since i hit 25, i've noticed a slight decrease in that. |

Have to keep this current chubby weight due to a jaw operation I'll be receiving over the summer (during which I'll lose between 10 and 20 pounds).
|

So I've been getting in the gym again lately, but I'm having the same old problems with one of my shoulder joints and it's really driving me crazy.
Whenever I do an incline fly/shoulder fly type motion, I have to really be careful as I'm extending because my left shoulder joint will pop and just let go, and my arm will drop with the weight in hand (I got a nice thigh bruise from a falling dumbell once). It doesn't actually dislocate, it just sort of pops out of position. It doesn't hurt when this happens unless I'm using a lot of weight, but I can still feel it in the joint. Even now, just sitting in my chair, if I sit up straight and swing my arms upward (i.e. doing the Y in the YMCA), my left shoulder joint will seemingly pop in and out of the motion, whereas my right shoulder joint just moves smoothly.
I have no idea why this is. I've never had a shoulder injury, and it's been like this for as long as I've been going to the gym. And it's really getting bothersome because it limits my ability to lift weights (what my right arm could easily lift, potentially, would cause my left arm to give), and I'm afraid I will eventually injure myself. Does anyone have any ing idea what could be causing this? |
some people just tend to have joints kind of give up on them. had a friend who's shoulder got dislocated all the time and had to be popped back in but that was during childhood. when she grew up she was fine...given you are already an adult you should have that looked at soon because you could do damage to your joints tendons and whatever else is in your arm and you'll ruin your chances at being healthy in the future. |

| switched up my workouts which is doing me some good. rather than the five days a week crap i've been doing for the past couple years i think i'm finally comforable hitting up the gym four times a week but i complement with lots of walking...i LOVE the summer, i'm exercising but not realizing it. win! |
