Biking is a great workout. , at least you're doing something. I've had to veg the past 5 days cause of the flu. I'm going back to the gym Saturday...that should be a sight.

ease into it, i have tons o friends that take time off and continue like they never took a break...bad things happen.

and biking is ok, great for cardio, but for strength, not so building. I also could bike better if I strengthened up.

I've been doing some hardcore squats lately and I get really psyched right before I'm about to do them

:wtf:

anyway, all jokes aside. i've finally gotten back into the habit of going to the gym consistently and i started doing this workout: http://www.t-nation.com/portal_incl...B-training.html

Shoulders have always been an area that I have slacked on, so I'm hoping this will work wonders with some dedication and a good diet

have you tried sweating the sickness away? on occasion I'll do a good cardio workout when I'm feeling sick with a cold, you will feel better BUT if you are carrying around kleenex box that might be a bit gross...overall sweat that out of your cold.

So, i've got a problem....

i have to airmen in my flight who are PT leaders with me...and they're really built. pretty much all they do on their time off is workout and lift. both of them bench ungodly amounts of weight, and can leg press like 400 lbs or whatever. its rediculous how buff these guys are.

anyways, both of them are now having back problems because of the amount of lifting they are doing. and they are both under 25. its really dis-heartening to see these two guys who really enjoy working out; no longer able to do so, because ultimately, its their hard workouts that are injuring them.

i don't think it has to do w/ improper form (unproper? whatev)...its just perhaps that they've simply lifted *too* much. and now have back problems so much that they can't really run more than 1/2 a mile....and the AF standards say they have to run 1.5 miles for their annual test.

they're both getting horribly depressed because the one thing they love doing is turning against them and injuring them both physically and emotionally.

is there any physical therapy or alternate solutions or something to help their lower backs....or will they simply just have to stop w/ the lifting for a good amount of time to let their bodies heal on their own?

i really don't know what to tell these guys, simply because i'm not a real lifter myself.

:(

This is what they need to do, that is, if it's nothing serious and they just have a mildly strained back. That can happen and it takes a long time to heal but, the body can do it on it's own. Usually to get to this point it's a result of overtraining or just not training properly. I had this happen to me as a result of some overtraining and then taking a weird bump on the basketball court. My back was haxxed for about 3 months but there was nothing I could do for it aside from rest.

If it's anything other than that, then I suggest they get medical treatment. If they have slipped discs or something like that well, then they need to get it diagnosed and they need to take extreme precautions in regards to exercise.
