^^That makes me feel better.
Yesterday I pressed a couple of 105 pound dumbbells twice on a flat bench. Pretty good considering that a few months ago I could barely do 95's. And I can do 240 a few times with a bar on a regular bench press.
Dumbbells are a lot harder to do for some reason. The highest my gym has is 110 lb dumbbells. I figure when i'm pressing those ten times i'll be in good shape. Shoulder pressing, like a couple of 6 foot guys who i've seen do it. Of course I wouldn't mind benching those ten times, either. :) |

Anyone read http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070126...iet_exercise_dc that yet?
From the article: "And their carefully controlled study added to evidence that adding muscle mass does not somehow boost metabolism and help dieters take off even more weight."
If that is true, I have misinformed several people! Thoughts? |

It's a COLD morning in TN, sir. Very still, very quiet. The ground is frozen. But I have mad tunes to wake up to, sir. |

While it may not boost metabolism, your lean muscle mass burns calories just by existing and being used.
If you have 50lbs lean muscle mass and each lb burns 25 calories a day just by sitting there you have burned 1250 calories that day just by maintaining your body.
If you have 80lbs youve burned 2000 calories. that extra 750 calories to keep your body running every day is going to significantly deplete fat stores if you restrict calories to nutrients and protein. |

| I'm fat right now too, it's pretty sweet. Strength levels are way up and my body feels great; I've been playing very little basketball, just once/week. Workouts are balls to the wall every time and I have no problem keeping the intensity up or achieving and maintaining a great pump. Another month of this I think and then I will start cutting. Until then, it's food whenever I want it and destruction in the gym. |
