| Racquetball is awesome. If the club here that has courts wasn't so expensive, I'd go there instead of my school's gym..which is only 25 bucks a semester. Wewt! |

| yea it's hard to find indoor raquetball courts down here at gyms. this gym is like the only one. i really prefer getting involved in some sort of sport or class when it comes to working out because it kinda forces you to. i was getting ready to sign up for some sort of sports-like activity because i was getting discouraged that my man wouldn't work out with me. i was gonna do tennis lessons or salsa dancing or something lol i think having a partner to play raquetball with can totally make it fun. we'll be getting great exercise and not really thinking about it. |

| Yeah I agree...I prefer that kind of activity as well. Plus you're working your whole body out at the same time. I'd say my best workout ever was working as a landscaper. I got so toned without even realizing it. |

After gaining some weight during the holidays, I now want to lose some 5kg of fat before the late Spring/Summer. I'm now unemployed so in theory have all the time in the world to dedicate myself to it, but the problem is that I'm spending most of the time sitting my arse on the sofa. :p 2 long cardio sessions per week at the gym before the weights don't seem enough.
Need to get out and start running. Been a bit lazy to do so because it's the winter and the dudes I was going to start running with have stopped doing it. |

yea that's the reason why he's not crazy about hitting the gym every night. he is a contractor and he looks totally decent even though he doesn't eat very healthy or work out. he gets plenty of exercise while working without realizing it. but he's all into getting more in shape this year with me so i'm happy.
i never have weight problems though i just always want to have a more toned look rather than the skinny look...which to me is almost harder than losing weight i would imagine. |

| You know, I just decided to hit the gym because my back hurts when I get lazy. And because I want to streak around the university someday, so I'd better be in shape for that :D |

Uhh... my back hurts today because I went to the gym (must have done some exercise wrong or something). You might want to reconsider that. :p |

I used to do 10 mile runs every Sunday back in August-September time. For a while, I thought I was going to die through exhaustion but it gets easier as time goes on, and educating myself on pacing was also a big help.
Cool, clear days and taking a lungful of that crisp air really can't be topped but it's a pity we just don't enough of that here :( |
Well, it's only just over half the distance I am planning to do this June, so there's plenty of training still required.
As for the pacing, I don't really run those longer distances very quickly, just around 11kmh but I try to maintain the same tempo throughout the distance. Tempo variations are for shorter distances (done throughout the week).
As for the weather, yes it sucks, we don't get those clear cold days here too often either. Ah well, we'll see what tomorrow brings. |

Your doing a marathon? One of the biggies or just a small local event ?
If you're serious about your training, then I would take part in a couple of half marathon's and try and get another marathon under your belt in the meantime to get the feel for the occasion.
Sounds like fun though, I had been hoping to do the London Marathon myself this April with a few mates from work, but all the available spots had been filled by the time I applied, and that was all the way back in October last year, so participation is in high demand this side of the pond. |

I'm planning on doing a reasonably big marathon in my home town this June. It's a one-off though, no yearly event.
Thanks for the tips, but I've already done five or so half marathons, have a few others lined up and I'm planning on doing one or two 30km races (apart from the training sessions around that distance) so I'm trying to be well-prepared.
I'd probably never compete in anything as big as the London (or NYC or Boston) marathon. That's nothing for me, I like the smaller events going through the countryside / forests etc.
Although I dream about competing in this marathon once in my life. |

I want my body to look like my friend's here:

That's really my ideal. Except I'll never have legs that shapely. :/ |
