Well I went down and tried experimentally lifting the barbell off the floor. I could feel that it would set my back off again so I didn't lift it.
I've been resting it for like two weeks now. How much longer until I can lift something heavy again? |

Did you end up getting it checked out properly?
I think you should keep doing core exercises, then slowly ease back into the weights when it feels comfortable.
If you force it too much, too early, you can just end up back at the start or worse. |

Why don't you just back off on the weight? You don't have to be a hero right out of the box, cut off some kg's and increase the weight slowly over time. |

A week on and I go back down into the basement, stare that barbell in the eye and pluck it off the floor and put it onto the bench with no problems.

Good to hear man. Ease back into it, though it sounds like you've given your back a good rest
My plan is to start running again this afternoon. Had enough of a break due to work. |

| Yeah, I went for my first run of 2011 on Monday. Completely cured my cough - I must have coughed up all the phlegm left from the flu in those 40 minutes. |
